    • Proclamation and Recognition

      • The City expressed its gratitude to the Captain Shawn Gibson for his illustrious 29-year service in the Oxford Police Department. The City expressed its best wishes for his upcoming retirement and the joy which is to be found in the upcoming chapter in his life.
      • Carter Johnson – The city was proud to honor Carter Johnson, a member of the 18U National Baseball team, who was privileged to be playing for this country in United States in the Baseball World Cup which was held in Taiwan.
        • Ordinance No. 2023-25 – Ordinance declaring the real property situated along the Ponderosa Trail surplus and authorizing the sale of it. — Unanimously approved
        • Resolution No. 2023-112 Resolution No. 2023- 112 Resolution awarding the bid to make the purchase of concrete for FY 2024, the bid to Webb Concrete and Building Materials. Webb Concrete and Building Materials. Unanimously approved

            • The City Council approved a balanced budget of $75.1 million for city services which represents the fact that there was a $6.5 million increase from the prior year. The budget highlights include the police department as well as the public works department were cited as the top expenses with budgets of $11.7 millions and $10.2 million in each. In addition, Oxford City Schools will receive a boost of $300,000 in city appropriations compared to previous year, which brings the total amount to $8.751 million. A major change to this budget is the implementation of the new pay scale, which is that aims to recognize the tenure of employees. Assistant Chief of Fire Ben Stewart, a contributor to the creation of this pay scale stated that the median raise under the new system will be approximately 2.5 percent.

        • Schedule public hearings to be held on the 10th of October, 2023 to discuss the following request that was considered at members of the Oxford Planning Commission at their September 5th, 2023 meeting:

          • Request for Zoning of Victor Perez Martinez and Brenda Guerro-Cardoso, to zone the property at the 304 Buckhorn road as a Residential District (R-1)
          • Zoning request submitted by Karen Jones Moradian to rezone the property in the 1700 block of Clark Avenue from Residential District (R-1) to Manufactured Home District (MH)
          • Schedule a public hearing for 10 October 2023 to discuss a possible condemnation of the 225 E. Oak Street
