The Presentation City of Oxford Christmas Decorating Contest Awards Reception:

The Oxford Arts Council was pleased to announce the finalists in the 2023 Christmas Decorating Contest, a showcase of creative Christmas spirit within the community. The winners, recognized across different categories, have transformed their spaces into beautiful display that embodies the Christmas spirit.
The most distinguished winners of each of their categories include:
Commercial: BR Williams Trucking (2339 Alabama 21) The best lighting: Adam and Katie Bailey (2064 Donna Drive)
– Main Street: Oxford Senior Citizens Center (424 Main Street)
The Most Beautiful: Anthony and Marilyn Roland (27 Pintail Point)

The Oxford Arts Council offered its warmest thanks to all the winners. It also extends gratitude to everyone who played a part in shining Oxford with the wonders of Christmas. The annual competition does more than fill the town with joy but also creates the sense of community and celebration with others at this period of the year.

- Resolution No. 2023 140 – Resolution allowing the Mayor to sign the Construction Agreement with the State of Alabama (ALDOT) for Industrial Access Road Improvements to include the widening of and the addition of a turn-lane on the CR-93 as well as extending the existing industrial access roads to Oxford West Industrial Park
- Resolution No. 2023 – Resolution 141 – Resolution authorizing Mayor to approve the bid of Buster Miles Ford for three 2023 Ford Expedition XL 4×4 SSV for a total of $153,000.00.
- Resolution No. 2023 (142) Resolution that authorizes the Mayor to accept the bid and to enter into the contract with Home Team Pest Defense for pest control services for City facilities for a sum in the amount of $1,043.00 each month.
- Resolution No. 2023 – Resolution 143 – Resolution authorizing mayor to modify the FY 2024 budget and to create an appropriation for the State of Alabama Firefighters Emergency Relief Fund in the value of $5,000.00.
- Resolution No. 2023 – 144 authorizing the Mayor to submit an application in the Appalachian Regional Commission fund assistance and making a commitment of $1,860,400.00 in cash and cash match local to sewer and water infrastructure upgrades for the Oxford West Industrial Park.

Public Comments
- In public comment, concerns about quarry issues were discussed. There was a scheduled meeting in Oxford but it is not a city-wide matter as it falls under the state’s jurisdiction. Many residents have expressed their displeasure, feeling sucked in by the proposed project when they learned of the project right as it was coming to an end. To remedy this issue, the public comment period has been extended until December 22, allowing residents with an additional opportunity to express their opinions and opinions. Comments can be made online through this site or via mail. A public hearing on proposed quarry permits is scheduled for the Tuesday of January 23rd on January 23 at 6:30 p.m. The hearing will be held on the Oxford Civic Center situated in the 401 McCullars Lane in Oxford. At this hearing, Oxford residents will be able to express your concerns to ADEM officials.
