The Smash It Sports Vipers’ third five-run inning of the season, and their second in a matter of two weeks, clinched their 7-6 win against their opponents the Texas Smoke in the first match of Thursday’s road doubleheader.
The Vipers (6-15) and Smoke played two games on Thursday and one of them was to compensate for a rainout on June 21. The Smoke took the second game 5-0, thanks to Autumn Pease’s four-hitter.
In the opening game, the Vipers scored two runs in the fourth and first innings, as well as five runs in the 5th. This rally led to the Vipers overcome an early deficit of 5-2 to gain a 7-5 advantage.
Karly Heath swung the biggest bat of all, hitting 4-for-3 with an RBI and a home run. RBIs. Two RBIs came off the fifth inning of her single.
