Washington D.C. –U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) who is the top ranking member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee for the Senate Committee on Appropriations, was among a number of colleagues last week for an event to discuss the way in which Biden’s disastrous border policies continue to put children at risk and allow dangerous drug cartels to flourish.
This press event was facilitated by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), as well as senators James Lankford (R-Okla.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), John Hoeven (R-N.Dak. ) as well as Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) as well as Ron Johnson (R-Wis.).
Since the time that President Biden began his presidency in January 2021 over 300,000 minors who were not accompanied by a parent have crossed across America. United States. Around 855,000 from these kids are missing and not yetaccounted for.
In the session of the Senate Committee on Appropriations earlier this year Senator Britt tried to press U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra to provide answers about how the Administration’s cutting corners and bureaucratic mistakes have led to more children at risk.
A transcription from Senator Britt’s comments during the press conference that took place this week can be found here:
We are here, Senate Republicans, standing in front of us again, discussing exactly the same issue which is the cost on which this Biden The Border Crisis taking on Americans as well as the migrants who are being abused and misused to promote another’s cause.
There is no doubt that this is an issue of national security as well as human rights crisis. Since I was elected, I’ve visited the border. I visited three times during my first 2 months of my office, because I wanted to know the honest, unfiltered truth. I asked them to tell me anything you think I shouldn’t to know. I’d like to know the whole truth. The truth is the fact that we have brave Border Patrol agents, ICE, National Guard, and local law enforcement agencies are doing everything they can to ensure that Americans remain safe and to help in resolving this crisis, but the final conclusion is that they’re overwhelmed and under-funded.
What I have remembered the most are the stories I heard while I was there. I saw a tiny newborn baby of six months sweating and wet just being taken from the river by her parents. I saw a tiny pair of shoes lying on the ground, next to the riverbank. This pair of shoes have some story. However, we’re asking you to be part of the story. I sat in the eyes of an CBP agent who said”one of my most difficult moments of his entire career was pulling the dead body of a lady from the Rio Grande who was pregnant with twins.
Folks, this has serious consequences for the people. The only ones that benefit from Joe Biden’s disastrous policies aren’t Americans Not these immigrants. Like Senator Johnson stated, it’s the drug cartels and terrorists who are making money and making their money.
We must get the American citizens to rise up for us and say , ‘enough is enough. If you are thinking about the 300,000 children who are not accompanied who have been spottedLet me share with you a little bit. I’m a Momma. Are you thinking I’ll let my child wander off in the hopes of being found somewhere else on the border? Absolutely not.
I’ve spoken about these girls, and it wasn’t the fact that they were sexually assaulted every single day. It was the frequency of times per day they were victimized. People, this is a real issue with consequences. It is the tales of a boy aged 13 who’s sent to work as a day laborer throughout the day. This boy doesn’t have an American Dream. He’s paying back the debts his parents owe them or made promises to an organized crime cartel.
The policies the Biden Administration has proposed are considered to be humanitarian or humanitarian in any manner, form or shape. Senator Johnson declared that however under Obama, President Obama his secretary of Homeland Security said if we have 1,000 immigrants coming through our borders every day, it’s a catastrophe. It’s the definition of a crisis. As you all witnessed the time I was able to have Secretary Mayorkas before the Homeland Security [Appropriations] Subcommittee and he didn’t even refer to the present situation a emergency .’
Senator Lankford has said it before But we’ve hit more than 10,000 people a day along our border. Yesterday, we had 6,100. We don’t even know who these individuals are who are able to get away. Consider the terrorists who are not known that are infiltrating our communities. You think of the child traffickers and think about the fentanyl is being spotted, then go into our classrooms, and even our schools. We must do more. We have to be loud and clear to the criminal cartels, that they are not selling the American Dream is not for sale because those who pay the price are these children.
