Calhoun County, AL – Region finales could be a challenge in a tough season for some regulars of the playoffs as well as long-running programs that are still in the hunt for playoff spots. A look at scenarios for area regions:
The Playoff seedings are beginning to take shape as an unusual pre-football normal season for Calhoun and nearby counties wind down.

Calhoun County has grown accustomed to seeing eight or nine teams from within its borders make the playoffs and may yet achieve that in 2023, but three regulars/semi-regulars in that mix — Alexandria, Donoho and Saks — are winless.
Calhoun County will have a champion in the region, Wellborn.
The only two teams, Wellborn and Jacksonville have the chance to be home playoff openers. Oxford could win three times by beating Center Point on Friday.
Four year ago, there were three semi-finals featuring the teams of Calhoun County played out on the same night, from Oxford through Piedmont.

From the outside from Calhoun County, undeated Cherokee County has dominated Class 4A Region 6. The current Class 4A second placer looks in its path to a second Super 7 shot.
Southside is in the position to win the region’s first title after 2014 by winning against Moody on Friday. Southside is likely to win in the case of a tie that goes to three teams.
If Hokes Bluff defeats Piedmont and wins, then Calhoun County won’t have a team that is in the top three in Class 3A Region 6. For a long time this region was down into a 3-way draw among Calhoun County rivals.
Spring Garden and Ragland will play on Friday to determine which team will play at home for the playoff opener.
Cleburne County could still make the playoffs, despite its four-game skid.

Class 6A. REGION 6.

Pinson (2-3 region) beat Shades (2-3). Pinson will play Pell City next week and Shades Valley faces Clay-Chalkville.
There’s always the chance in Pell City’s appeal for the AHSAA. If the Panthers are successful in gaining their victory on Center Point back, things get more complicated. Keep an eye on the game.
5A CLASS ReGION 6
Southside could win the overall win over Moody in the coming week.
For the possibility of a 3-4 tie ,Southside beat Hokes Bluff (five wins) and Boaz (three) in non-regional games, and will take on Etowah (three) during the season’s final regular-season game.
Leeds Beats Pell City (one), Sylacauga (one) and plays Center Point (seven). Moody defeated Pell City (one), Sylacauga (one), Shelby County (two).
Springville as well as St. Clair County, both 2-3, face each against each other to take the fourth position Friday.
5A CLASS RegION 4
It’s a six-team area and the region is over. The order of play is Central-Clay (5-0), Valley (4-1), Elmore County (3-2) is third, and Beauregard (2-3) 4th.
Class 4A, REGION 6.
Champion Cherokee County (8-0, 5-0 region) has outscored its opponents 353-52, and the margin will likely to increase in the regional final against unbeaten Ashville.
Oneonta (4-1 Region) holds the sole title of second place, as well as the head-tohead tiebreaker for Third-place Fultondale (3-2) that holds the head-tohead tiebreakers in fourth place Etowah (3-3) and the fifth place Good Hope (2-3).

Class 3A ReGION 6
Sylvania is the winner, Sylvania is the champion, and Geraldine takes second place. Hokes Bluff (4-2 region) holds the sole title of third position. Ohatchee (3-3) is the tiebreaker for head-to-head competition with Piedmont (3-3).
If Piedmont be able to beat Hokes Bluff and Ohatchee beat Plainview on Friday Here’s how a three way tie will look:
Ohatchee defeated Wellborn on the field in non-regional play. Wellborn has won six times and is likely to get seven more and may even get eight.
Hokes Bluff defeated White Plains (two wins) and will close the normal season with Sardis (five victories). Sardis is favored to beat Guntersville this week, however White Plains could beat Westbrook Christian within two weeks and offer Hokes Bluff eight points total.
If Ohatchee as well as Hokes Bluff finish tied with respect to points Hokes Bluff’s victory over Ohatchee during the regular season will determine third place. Ohatchee is fourth.
The region’s sole win that could be won by Piedmont (Sylacauga) is a single win, however Piedmont could have a head-tohead tiebreaker in Hokes Bluff. Piedmont must win Ohatchee to win in the tiebreaker to win the number. 3 spot.
2A CLASS and REGION 6.
Locust Fork is region champ Locust Fork is the region champ, and Southeastern is second.
Pleasant Valley (3-2) stands third in third place with West End to finish third place and beat West End head-to-head. The Raiders finish their region with a game against Gaston (1-7 0, 0-5) this week.
2A CLASS Reg. 4
B.B. Comer is the winner, and Thorsby is in second place. Isabella Vincent and Vincent are at 4-2 Then Isabella was the winner of the head to head.
Class 1A and REGION 6.
Wadley (5-0 area) is playing TCC (1-4) in this week’s game. Spring Garden (4-1) and Ragland (4-1) will play to decide second and third place.
Winterboro (2-3) along with Victory Christian (2-3) play to decide who is fourth.
