Piedmont, AL – After being replaced as the head football coach AD and basketball coach for boys, Piedmont is searching for the head basketball coach for girls.

A year of major coaching changes is over however Piedmont is still looking for a position to fill.

Terrace Ridley has resigned as the school’s coach for girls’ basketball on the varsity level, Piedmont principal Dr. Adam Clemons said. The school is expected to fill the position soon.

“We are extremely grateful for all that coach Ridley does for us and our girl’s basketball team,” Clemons said. “During her time in the program, we have seen numerous talented players as well as successful teams.

“We’re currently conducting interviews and will announce the girls’ basketball varsity head coach within the next couple of weeks.”

The 2023-24 school year starts, Piedmont will have new head football director and athletics coach Jonathan Miller, who was appointed in place of Steve Smith, who accepted the same positions in Westbrook Christian. A longtime associate coach Matt Glover was promoted to the position of head boys’ basketball coach following Jonathan Odam stepped aside to make room for his Alex’s career as a player with Jacksonville State University.

Ridley will remain an educator in physical education in Piedmont Primary School.

A Piedmont student and the school’s all-time top scorer in girls basketball. Ridley decided to step down following her daughter’s resentment. LeLe Ridley starred in basketball and track for the Bulldogs. She was a first team All-Calhoun County selection and a third-team All-State choice in basketball.

“I am extremely grateful for the 17 years I’ve had the privilege of coaching here at Piedmont and especially the time with my daughter and being one of the milestones she has reached,” Terrace Ridley said. “She will begin her journey at JSU this coming fall, which I’m extremely proud as JSU is where I graduated twice.

“Anyone familiar with me could say how much I am a fan of the game and my kids, and my time and effort invested in it is evident. As I retire from coaching, just God knows what’s next for my family and myself However, my enthusiasm for coaching will never cease to be available.”
