Jacksonville, AL – Join the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps for a performance four weeks of rehearsals prior to when it begins the 2023 tour that will be competitive across the US. After a series of spring training sessions on the JSU campus for this month Spirit will invite the community to a free preview performance at JSU Stadium the 1st of July on a Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at JSU Stadium. All are welcome.
In 1976, Spirit was founded in 1976 by the Former Marching Southerner Freddy Martin, Spirit has been tightly connected to JSU since the beginning of its existence. Its director is Dr. Ken Bodiford, JSU director of bands, was in the position of Spirit’s director between 2001 until 2007. Presently, JSU alums Chris Moore and David Coheley are directing the band. In this year’s concert, Southerners Drum Major Blake Durden along with other members of the band are performing together with the band. Find out more about the group at spiritofatlanta.org.
