Calhoun County, AL – Williams the era of White Plains’ softball coach begins with a victory over Piedmont; Oxford, Alexandria and Ohatchee are able to walk away with wins

Leighton Arnold hit a home run doubled, homered, drove in two runs, and pitched the entire game as White Plains opened the Tiffany Williams era with a win over Piedmont 5-1 in pre-softball action on Tuesday. Williams has been named the Wildcats head coach for the first time in his career in charge after Rachel Ford stepped down in May to spend time with her family. Arnold hit 2-for-4, scoring two runs. As a pitcher, she tossed seven innings of six hits and batted out 10 batters. The Wildcats also scored an RBI and a home run from Callie Richardson. RBIs by Callie Richardson and doubles from Cassidy Arnold and Kristen Rhodes.

To win for Piedmont, Savannah Smith with one-for-3, a triple and scored an RBI. Cacey Brothers went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI. Ava Pope was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

OHATCHEE 20 SAKS 4,Ohatchee was ablaze with 14 home runs and a nine-run rout in the fifth inning , and another eight-run second. Ellie Carden led the attack and went 3-for-4. She also had the triple, four runs as well as three RBIs. Whitney McFry and Alanah Fitch each had a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI. Fitch hit three, while McFry two.

Lexi Thomas went 1-for-3 with the double, two runs as well as two RBIs. Hannah Fitch struck out five batters in four innings to earn the victory. Saks’ Ava Snead went 2-for-2, scoring two RBIs, and Alayah Christopher hit a double and scored a hit.

Oxford 9, CLEBURNE County 1 In the first innings, Heflin, Reagan Sanders and Kaelyn Crossley both pounded out two hits and added two runs and scored one score for Oxford. Sanders hit an RBI double.

Ashlyn Burns was 2-for-4 and had the double, two runs along with the RBI with The Yellow Jackets, and Kenlee Rodgers had a 2-for-4 run. Adajiah Wilson hit 2-for-3, scoring 2 runs as well as an RBI. Berkely Mooney pitched the final six innings as a relief pitcher which allowed just one hit and 12 strikeouts. Baylie Jones as well as Jaylie Holt each scored one hit to Cleburne County.

ALEXANDRIA 11 ST. CLAIR COUNTY 7:Christian Hess homered twice and scored 4 runs in the first half of an attack of Alexandria. She also scored two times.

Pressley Slaton hit 2-for-4 and had an RBI and a triple. She pitched an entire game, allowing eight hits and no earned runs , with one strikeout. Leading off hitter Jill Cockrell went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a triple as well as Clancy Bright was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Allyssa Hunt and Brenlee Sparks each scored one run. Hunt made a solo home run.

Baseball

ALEXANDRIA 6 GADSDEN CITY 1:Tripp Patterson and Andrew Allen combined to pitch three-hit pitch for the Valley Cubs. Patterson pitched in the first four innings giving up two hits, two earned runs, and no walks, while striking out six times and Allen permitted only one strike and one walk while racking up seven strikeouts over three innings.

Samuel Henegar went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run and a triple. RBI. Brodie Slaton hit 2-for-4 and had one run and an RBI while Evan Snow went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ian Cartwright had a hit and two RBIs.

White Plains 17. RAGLAND 7. Cooper Tinney went 3-for-3 with an RBI double, 6 RBIs, and two hits for White Plains. Tinney pitched the last 2 1/3 innings with five batters out and allowing one earned hit.

Luke Richardson went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs Luke Richardson was 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBIs, while Brock Burns was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run. Flynn Tillison and Paul Laube each scored two hits and an RBI. Ragland scored two RBIs and also scored two RBIs from Ethan Courney, Skyler Barber and Jabari Thomas. Courtney was 2-for-3 during the day. Barber as well as Thomas each scored the ball.

PELLCITY 9 PIEDMONT 3:Trevor Pike was the only player to score two of the five hits for Piedmont. McLane Mohon, and Kale Austin each scored two runs, while Jake Austin pitched a scoreless seventh inning as a relief.

COOSA CHRISTIAN 11 7 SAKS:Tyler Tucker went 2-for-4 with a run, double as well as an RBI for Saks as did Mason Jairrels went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Lajuan Curry Gage Brown and Christopher Carter each scored one run. Curry was also thrown a no-hitter in the 7th inning in relief.
