Calhoun County, AL Calhoun County, AL Oxford wins in the battle with Calhoun County softball powers; Alexandria baseball continues to roll after the victory in the battle against Cherokee County

Reagan Sander and Kaelyn Crossley both had two hits and each scored two runs The duo also scored two runs, and Oxford defeated Alexandria 9-2 during softball in Choccolocco Park on Thursday. Emma Tims Beccera, Adajiah W Wilson, and Chloe Hulsey each had one of Oxford’s three RBIs.

Alexandria received 2 hits, and two RBIs off Clancy Bright and took a two-to-one lead in the bottom of the first innings.

Oxford pitching Berkley Mooney came in , and finished with 13 strikeouts, and two walks, while giving up three hits over six and a half innings. She surrendered only one run earned. Oxford was in the lead with six runs at the bottom in the first. Oxford took the lead in the second half. Yellow Jackets added two in the third, and another at the end of fifth.

Alexandria’s Pressley Slaton allowed the score of eight runs and seven hits in six innings. She also hit six batters.

Baseball

ALEXANDRIA 9 CHEROKEE COUNTY 3Ian Cartwright was 3-for-4 and had two RBIs in his attempt to be in the lead Alexandria and Samuel Henegar drove in two runs.

Leadoff player Aaron Johnson went 2-for-4 with three runs.

Tripp Patterson took the victory by striking out six batters while giving two earned runs in five innings. Henegar took on in the final two innings with one run unearned with two walks, and four strikeouts.

Cherokee County scored twice in the the fourth and got within 3-2, however Alexandria came back to score two in the fourth fourth and four runs in the fifth.
