Oxford, AL – On Monday, June 6, Tab Benoit will play in the Oxford Performing Arts Center at 7 at 7:00 pm. Tab Benoit is nominated for a Grammy. He is a musician, singer and guitarist who has built a phenomenal 30-plus-year career based on his soulful and gritty Delta swamp blues. He has accumulated an ardent fan base throughout his career and has won 5 Blues Music Awards, including the BB King Entertainer Award of the of the Year (twice) and the admission into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Tab has recorded and/or played alongside Junior Wells, George Porter Jr, Dr. John, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, James Cotton, Cyril Neville, Kenny Aronoff, Allen Toussaint, Kim Wilson, Jimmy Thackery, Kenny Neal, Chris Layton, Jimmy Hall, Jim Lauderdale, Anders Osborne And Alvin Youngblood Hart, to include the few. Tab’s achievements as a musician can be measured only by his commitment to the ecological well-being of his own Louisiana wetlands. Benoit is the driving force and founder for Voice of the Wetlands, an organization that works to protect the waters of the coast in his home state. The year 2010 was the first time he was awarded the Governor’s Award for Conservationist of the Year from the Louisiana Wildlife Federation.
