Boston — Oxford’s return to distance events has helped to see the Yellow Jackets sweep the Calhoun County girls and boys track titles for the second time in a row, just two weeks ago. Then, their coach took on the marathon on Monday in Boston. Landon Delozier completed the Boston Marathon in 3:01. It completed the race “about 11 minutes behind his goal pace, primarily because I wasn’t aware of the amount of pounding my quads were going to endure during for the initial 12 miles downward slope,” he said via text message. Oxford’s boys took home the sixth time in a row, their county championships on Saturday in Choccolocco Park, and the girls took their second title consecutively. The Yellow Jackets’ team highlights were the sweeps of distance events including Katie Keur winning the 8001,600, and 3,200-meter races for the women’s side, and Noah George taking the 1,600 and 3,200 for the boys’ race. The Oxford’s Evan Somers won the 800. Delozier is Oxford’s cross-country coach.
