Calhoun County, AL – Faith Christian doubles team of Mitchell Goode finish as 1A-3A’s state runner-up In softball, PV triumphs in a walk-off manner, Weaver’s Fulmer pitches no-hitter and Oxford triumphs Donoho soccer sweeps the night of senior night

Faith Christian has been a recently certified state runner-up in tennis.

The doubles team consisting of Eli Mitchell and Joshua Goode placed 2nd in the class 1A-3A no. 1 doubles division.

The team beat Shoals Christian team of John David Bachofer and Samuel Camp 6-1 6-1, with Covenant Christian’s Gray McCoy/Tucker MacWilliams 7-6, 6-0 to make it to the final.

Toba Rios/Josh Harvey from the state champion St. James, won the final match 6-1 7-2.

“We are so happy with their performance this year, winning both the Calhoun County (Red Wilder) and North Alabama sectional tournaments in doubles, and then progressing to the state tournament to the final,” Faith coach Dameon Goode stated. “They are superb technical players, who demonstrate mental toughness, smart decision-making and outstanding character when they playing as doubles partners.

“They are leaders both on both the tennis court and off and it was a fitting conclusion to an exceptional season for the young players as well for Faith Christian tennis that their final match at the high school level would be a State championship.”

Softball

PLANTS VALLEY 13 GLENCOE 11.Emma Harvey’s 2-out RBI hit in the the eighth inning earned the Raiders (15-11) the walk-off win.

Harvey’s hit was scored by Gracee Ward. She stepped for a single, which resulted in the scoring of Lily Henry to tie the game.

Her RBI strike in the top of the eighth inning put Glencoe ahead 11-10.

Macey Roper was 3-for-4, with a the home run, double, run, and four RBIs.

Madyson Cromer scored her homer among her two hits. She also added two RBIs. Ward was 2-for-3 and had 2 RBIs and a double.

Rebekah Gannaway’s double hitters included three triples, and she scored twice and scored the run.

Henry was 2-for-5 and scored an RBI, a run, and a double. RBI.

Glencoe had three RBIs of Hailey Hanners and Cayse Willett. Hanners hit homers and Willett scored two hits.

Emma Croy went 2-for-4 with three runs, a homer and two RBIs as did Abigail Bunt went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run and a double. RBI.

Oxford 17 CLEBURNE COUNTY 3Kaelyn Crossley had two doubles and scored four runs to the lead over Oxford (25-8). She hit 3-for-3 on the day.

Justice Woods hit a double and drove in two runs and Ashlyn Burns tripled, driving into one run.

Kenlee Rodgers went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and an RBI as well as Raina Zachery scored a double that included an RBI.

Zachery and Crossley together pitched four hitters.

WEAVER 13 JACKSONVILLE Christopher 0Kynlee Fulmer shut down a no-hitter, racking up five strikeouts over five innings, allowing Weaver (16-8).

Fulmer, Jadyn Smith and Madison Atchley had multiple hits. Peyton Marvasty had a double as did Kinley Marvasty Sydney Bitzer and Alana Cooper all hit.

CEDAR BLUFF 2. 1 PIEDMONT:Piedmont’s Emma Grace Todd hit five batters with six strikeouts, but no walks in six innings. Jenna Calvert went 2-for-3, and Armoni Perry scored an RBI.

Soccer

DONOHO Senior Night:Donoho’s boys and girls enjoyed their senior night on Tuesday by winning. The girls defeated Faith Christian 10-0, and the boys defeated Cleburne County 7-1.

Zoe Christopher led the girls with four goals. the Falcons scored one goal each with Lillie Mae Sherman Lily Grace Draper, Sarah Waggoner, Erin Turley, Samantha Wakefield and Lauren Wigley.

For Donoho’s boys Drew Williamson scored three goals as did Logan Melton had two. Sam Johnson and Bruce Downey each scored one. Melton and Downey both had two assists. They each contributed two assists. find more sports news stories…]
