Heflin, AL – In an incident that took place on Friday, the 29th of December tragedy struck as an accident involving just one vehicle and an uninvolved pedestrian took place at 8:20 p.m. which claimed the life of one Heflin resident. The victim identified as 49-year old Jimmy L. Mullally, was killed after being struck by the 2013 Toyota Tacoma driven by 59-year-old Wallace G. Nichols, who is also from Heflin.
The incident occurred at Cleburne County 19 near Cleburne County 42, about five miles south of Heflin in Cleburne County. According to reports, Mullally was lying on the road during the crash, suffered fatal injuries after the collision. Tragically even though the emergency response was swift, Mullally was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the scene.
The specifics of the circumstances that led to Mullally lying on the road and the sequence of events leading to the crash remain a mystery. the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is in over the investigation troopers are working hard to unravel the sequence of events.
Authorities haven’t released any further information about the accident. However, it is expected that an investigation of the fullest extent will be conducted in order to determine the reasons behind the tragic accident.
