Oxford, AL – In an incident that took place at around 2:15 a.m. on the morning of 16 December, a two-vehicle accident close to Oxford has left two people dead. The victims are identified as drivers, Anthony A. Finley who was 58, and the their passenger Kimberly H. Finley who is 59. Both are inhabitants of Heflin.

The fatal accident took place when the 2002 Toyota Sienna, occupied by the Finleys was hit by the 2016. Ford Mustang driven by Dustin T. Cleckler 30 from Thorsby. After the initial collision the Toyota was able to steer away from the road and hit an embankment and struck a number of trees before finally turning.

Anthony A. Finley and Kimberly H. Finley succumbed to injuries and were declared deceased on the spot. The severity of the injuries suffered to the victim Mr. Cleckler is yet to be determined.

The crash site was in the vicinity of Interstate 20 near Alabama 281 about three miles to the east of Oxford City Limits, within Calhoun County. The proximity of Oxford has increased the impact of this tragedy on the local area.

The details surrounding the circumstances that led to the accident are still under investigation by troopers of AL Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division. Authorities haven’t released any additional details at the moment as the investigation is ongoing.
