Anniston, AL –On the 3rd of November 2023, approximately 4:00 at approximately 4:00 pm Anniston police officers were called in the vicinity that is Leighton as well as East 22 nd Street due to the possibility of shootings. When they arrived, officers located two juveniles of males suffering from gunshot injuries. Officers immediately began rendering assistance to the victims and sought help from Anniston Fire Department and paramedics.
Due to their age, neither victim can be recognized. First victim taken into a hospital in the area, where the patient was treated before being released. Another victim has been then transported into Birmingham and is now as being in a critical but stable state and is expected to undergo further medical procedures completed.
In this investigation, Anniston investigators learned that an unidentified individual who was of concern produced a weapon and fired it at the teenagers.
On the 6th of November 2023, around 6 at night, Anniston Police officers were sent to the same area to investigate reports of a second shooting. On arrival, officers discovered that nobody was hit by the gunfire, however there was evidence to suggest that someone was shooting a weapon in the area. Investigators are investigating any possibility that these two incidents might be connected.
Captain Caballero of the Anniston Police Department advised that the investigation is currently in progress and additional information is being created.
