Weaver (AL – Weaver wins in Ranburne; Bob Jones wins in Alexandria

Weaver, ranked No. 1, won six weight classes and five in a row during the second half, to win Saturday’s Ranburne Bulldog Invitational. This was the tournament’s second in two weeks.

The Bearcats won the Gene Taylor Memorial and scored 219 points to beat Ranburne by 29. Ashville came in third.

Ranburne heavyweight Carson Hall won the title of tournament’s most valuable wrestler. Caden Thornton, Weaver’s 160 title match winner, was voted match.

Weaver had nine finalist wrestlers, and three consolation finals winners. To get the Bearcats off to a good start, Dalton Fink decided Cael Fulmer, his teammate at 106. They won consecutive titles at 160-170, 182, 182, 195, and 220.

The Bearcats are on a roll but Andy Fulmer will not allow his wrestlers be satisfied.

He said, “Two in one row is nice.” “We will keep chopping wood, carrying water – that is our team motto.”

Otis Weatherly Memorial

Bob Jones won one title, and he dominated the consolation finals. Eight winners were chosen to win Alexandria’s Otis Weatherly memorial Tournament.

Tafari Alcime was Patriots’ sole champion (220), however, they won consolation finals at 113, 120 and 126.

At 120, Preston Jones of Alexandria won and Garrett Howell from Oxford won at 152. The Yellow Jackets were T-9 while the Valley Cubs came in seventh.
