Calhoun County, AL Calhoun County, Alabama Munford offers Lincoln plenty to Ponder in baseball. Pleasant Valley softball ends weekend against 7A and 6A competition in Hoover by winning against Smiths Station

Lincoln — Jonathan Ponder struck grand slam and scored six runs during the day as Munford beat Lincoln 16-3 in high school baseball match.

Ponder was 3-for-4 and scored two runs.

Munford also had two RBIs in the form of Trenten Stringfellow B.J. Anderson along with Lathan Stephens. Connor Fisher and Alex Petty each scored two doubles.

In the mound Petty began and pitched the first four innings with five hits, an earned run, and two walks while striking out four times.

Softball

AFFORDABLE VALUE IN HOOVER:The Raiders have battled injuries and a tough schedule in the beginning of the season, and finished 1-2 at Hoover High’s tournament this weekend.

Pleasant Valley (4-6) lost to Helena 18-3 on Friday, and Hoover 10-2 on Saturday , but the team bounced back to claim an 8-3 win against Smiths Station.

When she played Smiths Station, Lily Henry was 2-for-3, with the home run and double with three RBIs. She pitched 6 2/3 innings with seven hits, scoring three earned run and five strikes.

Gracie Ward doubled and drove in two runs. Macey Roper and Madyson Cramer as well as Haylie Lee each scored an inning, while leadoff Rebekah Gannaway hit 2-for-4, scoring two runs.

The other teams were Gannaway scored three hits as well as scored a run in the game against Hoover as well as Ward scored three RBIs with a homer against Helena.
