An Haines grocery store is stocked with more milk than it can what to do with it. A mistake in the order process caused the store to receive several times the amount of milk it normally receives.

Sarah Swinton owns Olerud’s grocery store located on Main street. This week she experienced a glitch in her milk purchase.

“When I placed my order with Dairy Gold, it was available in small units. I decided to place my order that method,” she said. “But UNFI wanted it in the cases. The long version is normally, I buy an entire pallet of milk and I was able to get the equivalent of eight milk pallets.”

This is more than 700 gallons worth of milk, comprising ten thousand eight-ounce bottles.

Swinton claims that the company is not helping her in resolving the problem.

“They apologized,” she said. “Apologetic won’t cover my transportation or the costs for products.”

Now she has to sell her milk as quickly as she can, but at the cost of losing.

“I don’t believe I’d like to store dairy products in the store, and then attempt selling it my customers following when it expires, therefore I’m doing to do my best to move as much I can from my store” the woman said.

Swinton claims she was thinking of making milkshakes, but she doesn’t have enough employees. She believes now is an ideal moment for people to create pudding.

“Just make sure to stop by Olerud’s, and make sure you take a gallon of milk,”” the woman said. “It’s an excellent markdown.”

The date of expiration for milk is the 27th of March.
