The three Alaskan members of the delegation Congress have voiced their opinions on the merger between supermarket chain Kroger as well as Albertsons.

U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan wrote Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski wrote a jointly-signed messageFriday to the chairman of the Federal Trade Commission expressing “deep worries” about the merger they are proposing. They claimed it would decrease competition and may result in increased prices.

The merger agreement allows the conglomerate to purchase fourteen Carrs locations located in Alaska to a firm called C&S. Senators have noted that C&S does not have Alaska knowledge and that no clause in the agreement will oblige them to remain open.

The senators demanded to have they have the Federal Trade Commission closely scrutinize the deal in question and establish an extremely high standard for its approval.

Rep. Mary Peltola wrote a more adamantletter in the last month, requesting for the commission to halt the merger.

It’s also expected that the Anchorage Assembly is also set to consider the merger. It’s set to vote Tuesday on the Resolutionasking to the FTC to take action and stop the merger. Resolution warns “potential delisting of stores could effectively control the grocery market, and could threaten safety in food” within the town.
