The city chose three finalists for the job in August following the former chief Ed Mercer retired. A finalist Joshua Kingsbury from New Mexico has resigned. In two town halls in June, Juneau Police Department Lt. Krag Campbell and Bos spoke about their police philosophies and addressed questions from the audience.
Bos is the police chief of Eagle, Colorado. Bos said on Tuesday that his mission will be to connect the police department as well as the needs of the community.

The charges were later dropped.
The city’s officials initially stated that they would make an announcement about the city’s chief in the middle of this month. Barr explained that this delay was due to the city had to verify the references.
The salary for the job is $164,361. Bos will begin in February. 1.
Campbell is the runner-up for the position Campbell has been with the department for a total of 22 years. Campbell could not be reached to discuss the matter on Tuesday.
