City officials recommend Juneau residents not park at the airport this summer, as it undergoes construction work.

The parking lot for long-term use will be closed at the end of May. There’s a temporary parking lot located north of the terminal. It has signs for detours on Shell Simmons Drive leading to it. The temporary lot is limited up to 14 days.

Parking locations for short-term use taxi staging, rental and short-term car parking will be changed through the summer. However, temporary parking will remain as it is until the middle of June.

The method of payment for long- and short-term parking will also change. In June, drivers must pay for parking prior to getting into the parking lot – at kiosks or via the REEF Mobile app for smartphones – instead of paying on the exit.

City officials are expecting that all the parking lot spaces to be filled. They’re urging residents to consider the use of public transportation as well as other transportation options to get towards the airport.
