Gov. Mike Dunleavy, the Governor of Maine, announced Wednesday the winners in the fourth annual education raffle. He was speaking from Harborview Elementary School, Juneau.
Alaskans can enter the raffle by donating a portion of their permanent fund dividend. Half of the money donated goes directly to schools as grants. A quarter goes into an education endowment fund.
The raffle was won by 8,740 people this year. It raised $437,000 for public education and $218,000.50 for the endowment fund.
These four winners were Hannah Palmeter (John Erickson), Charles Greene, and Suzanne Taylor. The prizes they received ranged from $7,045.81 up to $56,366.49.
