Information about the Tutka Bay Retreat Experience

The generative retreat for writers blends workshops, writing in class readings, discussion, and readings and free time to explore the stunning natural setting or focus on writing. The weekend of inspiration and instruction will be held in the Tutka Bay Lodge. Tutka Bay Lodge, named by Fodor in 2012 as one of the world’s most desirable places to stay. Tutka Bay is a remote and rugged fjord, characterized by high mountains, unspoiled beaches, an old growth forest and dramatic tidal changes. To reach it, you travel by plane or car to the fisherman’s town of Homer located on the Kenai Peninsula (225 miles south of Anchorage) and then take an hour-long water taxi ride over Kachemak Bay. While you travel, you’ll see a variety water and shore birds There is also the possibility of seeing orcas, sea otters and the humpbacks.
