Juneau Assembly voted down a motion Monday night to reconsider lease of West Douglas Pioneer Road. West Douglas Pioneer Road to iRide Alaska for guided electric bicycle tour .

The Assembly was against leasing this road over to the corporation during the last meeting of the month. In a unique move, Assembly member Wade Bryson gave notice of reconsideration. This was a requirement for the Assembly to consider whether to consider it once more.


iRide Alaska hoped to offer E-bike tours during peak tourist seasons for up to 10 passengers every three times a week on Saturdays and Mondays. Bryson has expressed support for the tours by citing the local ownership and its decision to stop offering excursions on Sundays.


A few North Douglas residents had spoken against the tours, claiming that the road was among the few areas that were left to residents to go in the summer.


In a Monday interview, Assembly Member Christine Woll claimed that they’d considered their pros and cons of HTML0 enough.


It’s a style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”I believe that reconsideration is an effective tool when new information becomes available for instance, Assembly members were unclear regarding an issue, and are now clear,” she said. “I believe that this is not applicable to this particular situation. .”


Motion to rethink the lease was rejected in the vote of 3-5 which included Bryson, Michelle Hale and “Waahlaal” Giidaak’s vote for.
