Juneau residents who lost their homes or damaged by the record-breaking glacial outburst flood may apply for state aid by this week.
The emergency management division of the state, along with the city’s division along with the city’s volunteer groups will launch the center for disaster assistance in Mendenhall Valley Library. Mendenhall Valley Library from Aug. 21-23.
Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management spokesperson Jeremy Zidek said the state has received 60 requests for individual assistance thus far.

The official said that applicants who’ve already applied for a grant can visit the library to discuss the application process.
State assistance can assist homeowners with property damage, cleanup and other costs.
Zidek said renters could also seek assistance if they’ve misplaced “critical and important items” such as furniture, clothing and kitchen equipment.
The people who were forced to relocate may be eligible for assistance to pay for temporary accommodation. Renters may receive up to 3 months of aid to housing and homeowners for can receive up to 18 months.
People who are who are interested in requesting assistance from the library must provide documentation of any damages or losses. These could be photos video or written documents together with evidence of home and occupancy ownership, insurance details and a photo ID.
Zidek declared that the state assistance is available to those who’s primary residence was destroyed or was damaged.
