Around 70 people were evacuated off the cruise vessel on Monday morning following the engine fire damaged the UnCruise Wilderness Discoverer in Glacier Bay.


This fire was reported by the U.S. Coast Guard around 7:15 a.m.


The span style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”By the time we arrived they had put out the fire,” Coast Guard Petty Officer Ian Gray said. “All people who were in the area had been evacuated and in good health .”


The Sapphire Princess, a larger Princess Cruises ship that was near by it, responded to radio signals from the Wilderness Discovery and utilized the lifeboat on board transport the passengers as well as majority people on the staff. Some crew members remained on the ship, which is currently being transported to a shipyard in Ketchikan.


Federal and local authorities will be examining the damage in the next few days.


The span style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”Once it’s moored on the dock, we’ll commence the investigation,” Gray said. “We’ll bring Coast Guard personnel aboard and probably state troopers from Alaska.”


A distinct UnCruise ship took the Wilderness Discoverer’s passengers, and then brought them back to the headquarters of the company at Juneau at around noon on a Monday. UnCruise spokespersons said that all passengers would receive complete refunds.
