Plans for Parenthood in Juneau offers vasectomies now.


Mack Smith with Planned Parenthood Great Northwest Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky stated that demand has increased 41% in these states following that the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year.


The span style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”We’re having people who are producing sperm and seeking out options similar to this to help the partners they share,” she said. “And the patients are telling us who don’t want only one partner to to to ensure they don’t get pregnant.”


The residents of Juneau have the option of getting vasectomies from Bartlett Regional Hospital. However, Smith explained that patients have been requesting Planned Parenthood to add vasectomies to the variety of sexual health services.


“At all times, our goal is to eliminate the barriers to healthcare as possible, and to provide as many choices for health care as is possible,” Smith said.


At present the time being, appointments are scheduled every two months -the next appointments are scheduled for August. The service provider that performs the procedures is based in Anchorage.


“But HTML0 can be adaptable, based on the level of demand” Smith said.


Smith stated that numerous insurance companies will cover the procedure and costs can range from complete insurance to $1000. She suggests patients schedule their appointments one month in advance in order to get pre-authorizations through their insurance.

In Alaska the state of Alaska, protections for abortions are enshrined in the constitution, however rural Alaskans aren’t able to access abortion treatment.
