Students were escorted out of Harborview Elementary School on Friday following the school was notified of threats of bombs via a phone call.

The threat was received about noon According to a report that was posted via the Juneau School District’s application. According to the police the phone message was received by a number which has since been linked with threats sent to a variety of schools in the state over the past few months.

The news release said students were temporarily evacuated from the playground while the police removed the school. Classes resumed normal by one p.m. A short stay-put order was also placed for the Douglas-Juneau Yadaa.at Kale High School, but it was later lifted.

District Superintendent Frank Hauser said in an interview on Friday that students’ safety is the top priority of the district.

Hauser announced that the joint statement of JPD as well as the District will be made during the course of Friday’s day.

Schools are being targeted with mass threats. This has been increasing across the nation. In September, a number of public schools in the State were targeted via emails.
