Two women who were found dead in the area of Trapper Creek on June 2 were victims of murder the Alaska State Troopers reported.
Troopers discovered the remains of 30 year-old Fairbanks residents Sunday Powers as well as 34-year-old Anchorage Anchorage resident Kami Clark during their investigation into Powers disappearance, as per the recorded statementtroopers made public on the internet Friday.
Powers has been reported missing since on May 24 after he made an emergency phone.
Troopers spokesperson Austin McDaniel declined to comment on the reason Powers called her, or on what she said to dispatchers.
“So now, because of the ongoing in-progress nature the investigation, I’m not aware of any additional information I’m willing to release currently,” McDaniel said.
Troopers began searching at Powers along the Parks Highway, where she was believed to be travelling in between Fairbanks as well as Southcentral Alaska. A week later they discovered her vehicle and her body, as well as Clark’s in the Trapper creek region, as per the troopers’ online report.
The evidence at the site led police suspect that the women were murdered in the report.
“Investigators don’t believe the murders were random, and troopers also don’t believe there is any security risk for the community at the moment,” said McDaniel.
Troopers request that anyone who hasn’t yet provided information to police, contact the investigators by calling 907-352-5401 or, to remain anonymous, submit tips using the smartphone application.
