The National Park Service has identified two persons who are believed to be dead following an airplane crash which occurred this week in Wrangell St. Elias National Park.
Clayton McMartin, 59 as well Melissa McMartin, 58, from Roanoke, Texas were believed to be aboard the aircraft.
Alaska State Troopers reported on August. 28 that an Beechcraft Bonanza with two people on board was missing since leaving Glennallen earlier in the day heading to Ketchikan. The last sighting was 18 miles to the inland within Cape Yakataga, near Yakutat.
The pilot of a U.S. Coast Guard aircraft discovered a debris in a glaciated area with deep crevasses in the vicinity of Mt. Leeper in Wrangell St. Elias National Park.
Recovery efforts are continuing in conjunction together with National Transportation Safety Board, according to the Park Service.
