Officer Bert Anzini, Surprise police commander, said that officers arrived at the scene to find the car with four teenage boys inside. Two teenagers were taken to hospital in very critical condition after being rescued from their car. Later, police confirmed that the driver was 17 years old and the passenger was 16 years old. Two other boys were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision involved no other vehicles. Anzini stated that speed was a factor in the collision. He said that there was a lot of skid at the spot where the vehicle struck the tree. He said that the boys were all of high school age.
Officials didn’t confirm the high school where they went to, although the boys were part of Dysart. A statement was released by Dysart Unified Schools District regarding the death of the teenager.
The identities of the victims are not known. The crash is under investigation by police.
