Original Phoenix craft beer fans will remember Papago Brewing Co., a company that helped inspire the now booming brewery scene in the Valley. Soon, the bygone brewery will be back…

Origins Phoenix craft beer lovers will recall Papago Brewing Co., an organization that was instrumental in establishing the now flourishing beer culture throughout the Valley. The once-defunct brewery will return. Leah as well as Jeff Huss, who together run Huss Brewing Co., are planning to revive the storied brewery and opening a brand new taproom at Mesa.

Before joining forces with her husband in the establishment of Huss Brewing Co. in Tempe in 2013 Leah Huss was a co-owner at Papago Brewing Co. for 14 years. The brewery located in Scottsdale ended up closing and the Huss purchased the brand in 2016 and kept the name by releasing Papago Orange Blossom, one of the most loved and well-known craft beers from Arizona. Since then, they’ve been adding to the brand, making Papago Cherry Blossom and a new beer named Papago Blueberry Wheat.

Beginning in 2023 in 2023, in 2023, the Papago Beers family will again have a home to be a part of.

“It’s ever been my goal to revive this experience at Papago Brewing” Leah Huss said in an announcement. “Not an old fashioned duplicate of the taproom from the past however, it’s a completely new version.”

It will feature “elements of traditional European-style bars,” complete with vintage furniture, according to the press release. The taproom will replace the Brass Tapp, a 2,100-square-foot beer pub located at Mesa Riverview that is set to close on the weekend of the 26th of November.

The menu of the new concept will include 60 tap beers, including every one the Papago as well as Huss Brewing Co.’s beer selection, along with craft beers from Arizona in addition to the rest of Arizona. Leah as well as Jeff Huss also have plans to revive some of the first Papago Brewing Co. beers like Elsie’s Milk Stout and Hopago IPA.

The taproom’s menu will comprise a variety menu items for pub meals which will be served at dinner and lunch. The brand new Papago Brewing Co. is expected to be begin operations on Dobson Road in the early 2023.
