Ben Kieckhefer is a former Nevada Gaming Commissioner and state senator. He will be serving as chief of staff to Gov.-elect Joe Lombardo.
Kieckhefer was a Republican state senator who was first elected in 2010. He resigned shortly after he termed out to be seated on the Nevada Gaming Commission, October 2021. When Lombardo assumes office in January, he will resign.
Kieckhefer supported school choice during his time in office. He also presided over the powerful Senate Finance Committee in 2015.
Kieckhefer stated in a press release that “I am humbled by Governor-elect Lombardo’s trust in me, as well as excited to have another chance to serve Nevada, which I love so deeply,” “Under Governor elect Lombardo I’m confident this administration will deliver innovative and historic victories to our great state.”
Kieckhefer is also the director of client relations at McDonald’s Carano in Reno, Nevada.
Lombardo had previously named Kieckhefer to his transition team. This includes several Republican state legislators and members from the state’s business community.
Lombardo stated that Ben has dedicated his entire life to Nevadans and there is no one better qualified for the job. I know Ben’s extraordinary leadership, unmatched integrity and vast legislative experience will make Carson City a success.
